Solanke: Sancho Inspires Young England Players

Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho is a source of inspiration for young England players, looking to impress in the first XI.

The 18-year-old forward left Manchester City for Germany in 2017 and has grown into a star at Dortmund, sco0ring six goals and notching seven assists this season.

His move has led to talks of other youngsters in search of first team football following in his footsteps, as Chelsea’s Hudson-Odoi is being courted by Bayern.

And Solanke made a move of his own, albeit a local one, joining Bournemouth from Liverpool for more playing time.

And Solanke believes Sancho is an inspiration to all young players in England who are searching for an opportunity to prove they belong.

“That [Sancho’s success at Dortmund] has affected everyone,” Solanke said. “When one young player sees another young player doing that they think they can do it as well, especially when everyone is playing at international level together.

“Sancho is doing well in Germany and a lot of players would like to follow his path. What he’s done, getting into the England team at such a young age, it will influence a lot of young players.”
