Thibaut Courtois arrival at Real Madrid has come at a cost for former first choice goalkeeper Keylor Navas
Navas now struggles for any sort of playing time despite winning three successive Champions league titles.
“I respect him a lot, like the other players here who have won three Champions Leagues,” Courtois said after Real Madrid’s triumph Over Al Ain in the Club Word Cup
“It’s never nice to be on the bench, I guess for him it’s the same, but I see him working well.
“There isn’t a bad relationship, all the goalkeepers train hard.”
Jose Mourinho has been linked with a Real Madrid return and Courtois, having worked and won with him at Chelsea, spoke highly of him.
“He’s a great coach,” the Belgian said.
“I’ve won with him and I have a lot of respect for him and I wish him the best for the future.”
Santiago Solari took the decision to remove Navas as Champions League goalkeeper upon his arrival, giving Courtois minutes in both LaLiga Santander and Europe.
“When you play on Wednesdays and Saturdays then it’s beneficial for a goalkeeper,” he said.
“It’s the coach’s decision and he’s the one who chooses.
“I was playing well before and making good saves, but you lose 3-0 and people tell you that you conceded goals.
“I felt good here from the first day.”
