Social Media Users Run To Twitter As Facebook Goes Down
If you find it difficult connecting to Facebook earlier today, you’re not alone as the social media platform appeared to have gone down on Monday afternoon, prompting users to visit Twitter to pour out their frustration about the issue.
Although the most popular social network is back, downdetector.com, a website that tracks site downtime, earlier claimed a spike in reports of Facebook being down just before 1 p.m. EST.
By 1:36 p.m., the website was back up.
While Facebook is yet to offer explanation on the cause of the outage, users quickly rushed to Twitter where they shared frustrations – as well as memes poking fun at Facebook – under the hashtag #FacebookDown.
Currently, the hashtag is a trending topic in U.S., Nigeria and worldwide.
We’ve been made aware of an issue impacting players’ ability to use Facebook to log into Pokémon GO and Ingress due to a Facebook outage. We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide you with an update soon. #FacebookDown
