A 69-year-old Dutch entrepreneur who believes he has the body of a 45-year-old has started a legal battle to officially change his age as according to him, it affects his dating and job prospects.
Emile Ratelband is hoping he will be able to change his date of birth from 11 March 1949 to 11 March 1969, arguing that if Transgender people are legally allowed to change their sex, he should be allowed change his age.
Mr Ratelband told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, “You can change your name. You can change your gender. Why not your age? Nowhere are you so discriminated against as with your age.”
“When I’m 69, I am limited. If I’m 49, then I can buy a new house, drive a different car. I can take up more work,” he said. “When I’m on Tinder and it say I’m 69, I don’t get an answer. When I’m 49, with the face I have, I will be in a luxurious position.”
The Dutch media personality added that according to his doctors he has the body of a 45-year-old, and even described himself as a “young god” . If the court rules in his favor, he also said he would give up his pension.
A local court in the city of Arnhem, south-east of Amsterdam, is expected to rule on the case within four weeks.
