Gary Neville used Raheem Sterling when comparing his development and Manchester United’s Anthony Martial.
“Look at Raheem Sterling, who I don’t think has Martial’s talent, and his transformation over the last 12 months and why he is scoring 18, 20 goals a season. That’s the coaching Pep Guardiola has put into him,” Neville said.
“They have to invest in him (Martial) and I’m sure they are. Jose Mourinho wants a team that is ready to win the league now and Martial isn’t ready, but he can actually become a top player over the next two, three years, like Sterling has done”, he said live on ‘Sky Sports’.
He then replied on his official Instagram account. “But the transformation on his game in the last twelve months is from coaching!!! The disrespect from G Nev” followed by four laughing emojis.
Sterling has scored 37 times since the Spaniard arrived at the Etihad in the summer of 2016 and was nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award last season.
