Mourinho Speaks On Ibrahimovic’s Chances Of Returning To Man United
Manchester United gaffer Jose Mourinho has ruled out any chance for a return to Old Trafford for Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
It is believed that the 37-year-old, who moved to LA Galaxy in March after a period at United, would be available for a temporary loan period during Major League Soccer’s off-season but the Portuguese insisted United would not be making a move.
Metro UK reports that when asked if a United return was a possibility, Mourinho said: “No”.
Asked if it was not an option he would consider, the Portuguese again replied: “No.”
Ibrahimovic would act as good cover for the Red Devils’ main striker Romelu Lukaku – who has not scored in his last eight matches and Mourinho has admitted he is short of options and is unable to rest the Belgian.
In the same vein, the striker has also distanced himself from a move back to United as he wants to properly recover after his first stint in Major League Soccer.
“I think I’m in a situation where I need to have a good balance between work and rest,” Ibrahimovic told Sky Sports.
“Because I came back from injury and because of my age and the load I’m putting in during training.
“It’s not what I have been thinking about because we still have two games, hopefully we make the play-offs.
“Any more on that I don’t know what to say because I haven’t focused on that, I haven’t put any thought on it.”
