Mr Fayose, who was accompanied by officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), arrived the court’s premises at about 8.30am amidst armed police officers.

It is believed that the court session started around 9am.

Fayose was brought to court straight from the EFCC custody, where he had been detained since last week when he submitted himself to the anti-graft agency, shortly after the expiration of his immunity from prosecution.

Already, the charges are being read to him before Justice Mojisola Olatoregun.

The former governor is facing an 11-count charge of conspiracy and money laundering.

Fayose is being defended by a former Attorney General of the Federation, Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN).

Agabi was also counseled for the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, when he was tried before the Code of Conduct Tribunal for alleged false asset declaration.
