Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars has insisted that there is ‘no chance’ of Matthijs de Ligt leaving the club during the January transfer window.
De Ligt, 19, is regarded as one out of the outstanding young central defenders in world football, and has been linked with a number of clubs over the last couple of years.
Barcelona and Manchester City have been strongly linked with a move for the 10-time Netherlands international, and the player recently talked-up a future switch to Camp Nou.
Overmars, however, has ruled out the possibility of De Ligt leaving Ajax at the start of 2019.
“The chances of De Ligt leaving Ajax in January are 0%,” Overmars told LaRoma24.
Asked whether the defender could be sold in June, Overmars replied: “Yes, I confirm it is a possibility.”
De Ligt signed a four-year contract extension last year, with the deal lasting through 2021.
