Eating small amounts of healthy foods throughout the day is the best way to curb cravings, limit hunger, and avoid overeating come meal time but what happens when we want to have quick snack cravings?

Experts believe that in addition to three healthy meals, everyone should enjoy a snack mid-morning and mid-afternoon as well. After dinner, either a small dessert or late-evening snack is the best way to round off eating for the day. The goal is to never go three waking hours without having a small bite to eat.

Here are ten healthy snack cravings you can indulge in as they are yummy, easily available, and deliver just the right number of calories and nutrients to keep hunger away until your next meal.

Hard-boiled egg
Egg is packed with protein and gives you enough energy to get you through to dinner. One boiled egg has just about 78 calories! If you need a little more, you can supplement with cut-up vegetables.

Fresh Avocado
Spread one-half of a small avocado on a rice cake, and watch your hunger pangs disappear.

Small baked potato
With half a cup of salsa and 2 tablespoons of fat-free sour cream. Salsa is very low in calories, and if you stick to a small potato, you’ll be eating a filling snack that you’ll truly love.

Frozen yogurt
If you have a sweet tooth, then frozen yogurt is the snack for you. However, ensure your serving is not more than ½ cup. Add a small clementine for extra flavour and fiber.

Peanut butter
Spread 1 tablespoon of peanut butter on a regular-sized rice cake for a texture combination that satisfies.

English muffin pizza
Spread half a muffin with a tablespoon of pasta sauce, 2 tablespoons of low-fat grated cheese and bake at 350°F until bubbly.

Potato chips
Twelve average-sized chips will come in at roughly 100 calories, which means that you can still enjoy that fulfilling crunch.

Air-popped popcorn
Three cupfuls of this healthy snack is healthy and filling enough for you not to feel hungry for hours.

Microwave popcorn
Be it light or low-fat versions, microwave popcorns are so delicious that you can consume up to 3 cups. You can also eat the full-fat buttery version, but ensure you don’t take more than 1 cup.

Two of these luscious fruits are 20 fewer calories than an 8 ounce glass of orange juice! More so, their high fiber content makes you feel fuller, which is especially important if you are not eating enough fibers.

Don’t feel too bad if you can’t stop eating loads of M&Ms. A portion of 30 of them has just about 125 calories and that is enough.
