Jose Mourinho says would have resigned at were he in charge of any other club than Manchester United, according to a report
According to the Mirror and their anonymous insider source at Old Trafford, Mourinho has privately confided in friends that he would have quit by now were he in “any other job at any other club.”
The Portuguese is said to be at loggerheads with vice-chairman Ed Woodward and several other key members of the United hierarchy over a supposed lack of backing in the transfer market. Mourinho identified Harry Maguire and Toby Alderweireld as key summer signings, but United failed to deliver either — instead spending £75 million on Fred and Diogo Dalot.
As he begins his third season at the club, the 55-year-old manager reportedly feels that Woodward has “undermined his chances” of challenging Man City for the Premier League title by refusing to splurge on a vastly expensive centre-back.
Manchester United’s defensive weakness were exposed in just their second game of the season, when they were beaten 3-2 by Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend.
