The month of August has been one for the movies as a number of interesting movies and blockbusters made their way to the cinemas. However, some not too interesting movies were added to the mix and knowing sifting the wheat from the chaff can be a little less appealing.

The Darkest Minds
Released on the 3rd of August, this movie follows the story of teens who mysteriously develop powerful new abilities. They are soon seen as a threat by the government and sent to detainment camps.
Sixteen-year-old Ruby soon escapes from her captors and joins other runaways who are seeking a safe haven. Banded together and on the run, they soon combine their collective powers to fight the adults who tried to take away their future.
The Darkest Minds was directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson, and written by Chad Hodge, based on Alexandra Bracken’s young adult novel of the same name. The film stars Amandla Stenberg, Harris Dickinson, Mandy Moore, and Gwendoline Christie.
Disney’s Christopher Robin
This fantasy comedy-drama film was directed by Marc Forster and written by Alex Ross Perry, Tom McCarthy and Allison Schroeder, from a story by Greg Brooker and Mark Steven Johnson. The film is inspired by A. A. Milne and E. H. Shepard’s book Winnie-the-Pooh and is a live-action/CGI extension of the Disney franchise of the same name.
Christopher Robin – who is now a family man living in London receives a surprise visit from his old childhood pal, Winnie-the-Pooh. With Christopher’s help, Pooh embarks on a journey to find his friends — Tigger, Eeyore, Owl, Piglet, Rabbit, Kanga and Roo.
Once reunited, the lovable bear and the gang travel to the big city to help Christopher rediscover the joy of life.
The Spy Who Dumped Me
The Spy Who Dumped Me was directed by Susanna Fogel and co-written by Fogel and David Iserson. The film stars Mila Kunis, Kate McKinnon, Justin Theroux, Sam Heughan, Hasan Minhaj and Gillian Anderson and follows two best friends who are chased through Europe by assassins after one of their ex-boyfriends turns out to be a CIA agent.
The movie stars Eva Longoria, Nina Dobrev, Vanessa Hudgens, Lauren Lapkus, Thomas Lennon, Adam Pally, Ryan Hansen, Rob Corddry, Tone Bell, Jon Bass and Finn Wolfhard.
Set in 1970s Colorado Springs, the plot follows the first African-American detective in the Colorado Springs police department, who sets out to infiltrate and expose the local chapter of the Ku Klux Klan.
