Sacked DSS DG Lawal Daura “Arrested And Detained”
There are reports flooding the internet that the sacked head of the Department of State Security (DSS), Lawal Daura, has been arrested and detained, barely a few minutes after the Vice President announced his sack.
According to the reports, Daura was arrested after Acting President Yemi Osinbajo relieved him of his duties on Tuesday afternoon.
Osinbajo had summoned Daura alongside Ibrahim Idris, Inspector-General of Police, over the siege laid to the national assembly earlier in the day.
During the siege, federal lawmakers were denied access to the legislative chamber, fuelling speculations that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was perfecting its plot to oust Senate President Bukola Saraki.
It was learnt that the two security chiefs arrived Aso Rock at different times – while Idris got to the presidential villa at 12;35pm, Daura got there at 1:15pm.
After briefing, Osinbajo, It was also gathered, ordered that the former DSS DG be whisked away.
It is understood that Daura was arrested by a combined team of the Police and the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) for “breaching national security”.
State house correspondents who were waiting to speak with the security chiefs did not know that Daura had been taken away through another exit.
Daura is currently being detained at the SARS headquarters.
