Outrage As Yomi Shogunle Taunts Nigerians Seeking #EndSARS With 186 Million Retweets

Trending currently on social media amid outrage is the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Yomi Shogunle, who is under fire for his Twitter comment which Nigerian users think undermines the #EndSARS campaign.

Trouble started on Thursday after he tweeted; “186 million Retweets to #EndSARS. Oya let’s go!”

Apparently cheesed off with the tweet that appears to be more like a mockery owing to the impossibility to achieve 186 million retweets, coupled with the ongoing Twitter purge that has seen over 70 million accounts removed from the micro-blogging site, Nigerians have since begun to call for the deactivation of the account of Yomi Shogunle, the head of Police Public Complaints Rapid Response Unit.

The #EndSARS campaign which was launched by aggrieved Nigerians is advocating the end of the Special anti-robbery Squad, SARS, of the Nigerian Police over the unit’s alleged brutality against innocent Nigerians.

Many victims of the alleged brutality of SARS have shared their ordeals through the campaign.

However, many of his followers felt that he was being insensitive to the plights of citizens who have suffered at the hands of operatives of SARS.
