Report: Chelsea Appoint Maurizio Sarri As New Manager, Gianfranco Zola As Assistant With Jorginho Set To Follow

Maurizio Sarri has agreed on a deal to become Chelsea head coach, with Gianfranco Zola as his assistant

Napoli’s president earlier this week revealed Maurizio Sarri was close to finalising a deal to take over at Chelsea on Wednesday, two days before Antonio Conte’s sacking was confirmed by the Premier League club

Sarri was replaced by Carlo Ancelotti as Napoli manager last month but remained at the club as a compensation settlement between the 51-year-old and the Serie A club was agreed.

Chelsea are expected to sign Jorginho, the Italy midfielder, from Napoli as part of the deal bringing Sarri to Stamford Bridge.

Though Manchester City hoped to purchase the 26-year-old, the Blues have moved late to capture a player who excelled under Sarri while the pair were together at Napoli.
