Eight Silent Signs You May Have A Thyroid Problem

The thyroid gland is a small organ that is incredibly important. Located in the neck, the thyroid gland is a butterfly-shaped gland in the neck which produces hormones essential for metabolism and brain activity.

While it is difficult to pick the symptoms of thyroid problems because they are usually vague, nonetheless, there are certain symptoms and signs that may signal an imminent problem. If you have any of them, see a doctor immediately.

Change In Sleep Pattern
If you are someone that always found it easy to sleep but you all of a sudden find it difficult, there could be an imminent thyroid problem. It could be the gland is releasing too much triiodothyronine, or T3, and thyroxine, T4 hormones.

An overactive thyroid pumps out certain hormones in excess, which can overstimulate the central nervous system and lead to insomnia.

On the other side, if you find yourself feeling tired even after sleeping for several hours, you could have an underactive thyroid.

Feeling Anxious
If you’ve never struggled with anxiety but start to continually feel anxious, your gland could be hyperactive. Too many thyroid hormones often cause patients to feel anxious, and that is unrelated to anything specific.

Change In Your Bowel Movements
Having frequent constipation could be related to an underactive thyroid since hormones released from them play a role in keeping your digestive track running. The opposite is created with an overactive thyroid, causing you to go to the toilet more frequently.

Going Bald
If your hair begins to thin, particularly on your eyebrows, you may want to watch out. An underactive or overactive thyroid affects the hair growth cycle. An hormonal imbalance causes too much hair rests at one time, which means hair looks thinner.

Sweating Randomly
Sweating excessively is a common sign that your gland may be hyperactive. The thyroid regulates the body’s energy production. Higher hormonal levels will increase your metabolism, causing you to feel very warm.

Weight Gain
If you are adding weight, despite the fact that you haven’t changed your eating or exercise habits, your gland may be underactive. Lack of hormones decreases metabolism and calorie burning, which may cause unexpected weight gain.

Brain Fog
people with underactive thyroid, report feeling a brain fog. Others report experiencing subtle memory loss, or overall mental fatigue. An overactive thyroid can make it difficult to concentrate.

Feeling Hyperactive
An overload of thyroid hormones speeds up your body processes. Some sufferers have reported having heart palpitations and too much energy even when they’re relaxed.
