Croatia’s PM, Politicians Wear Country’s Jerseys To Work Amid #WorldCup Final Celebration
With barely less than a day to the 2018 FIFA World Cup final in Russia between France and Croatia, photos have gone viral on social media where some apparently elated politicians in Croatia can be seen wearing the team jersey to work.
The Croatian team left many football fans and pundits stunned as they fought their way to the final of the tournament despite arriving in Russia last month as under dogs.
To show support to their country and as a way of motivating the players, the nation’s cabinet members donned red and white jerseys on Thursday to one of their cabinet meetings in celebration after they eclipsed England in a 2-1 victory – which granted them the entry into the FIFA World Cup 2018 final.
In the photo above, Croatia’s Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic (center) sits between ministers wearing the country’s soccer team jerseys during a government session in Zagreb, Croatia – a day after Croatia qualified in finals at the soccer World Cup.
“What happened yesterday in Moscow is the best possible promotion for the country on a global level. This is success for a small country with huge heart,” the PM said at the beginning of the cabinet session, according to Reuters.
