#WorldCupWith360nobs: Musa’s Goals Help Nigeria Humble Iceland In Volgograd

share on:

The Super Eagles of Nigeria reinvigorated its World Cup campaign with a 2-0 victory over Iceland in Volgograd on Friday, June 22, 2018.

It was certainly two moments of brilliance for Ahmed Musa who stood up when it mattered most and scored both goals.

Bear in mind that with barely a few hours to the crucial game against Iceland, the Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, had said that Nigeria have the tactics to beat the Nordic island country in the Volgograd Arena.

A second defeat following a 2-0 loss to Croatia in Group D will have put Nigeria out of the running for a last-16 place and possibly lead to the German coach losing his job.

The result also gave boast to Argentina who if Iceland had won the game would have been in a terrible spot to advance.

While the Super Eagles can round up qualifications for the second round with a win in it’s last fixture, a win over Nigeria could well be enough for Argentina.

Even then it might not be enough should Iceland also pick up three points and better their result against what promises to be a much-changed Croatia side.
