The Lagos State Police Command has announced a N1m reward to anybody with useful information that will lead to the arrest of a masked lady, who posted a viral video, accusing an Inspector, Christopher Nabugwu, of living above his means.
In the viral video, the masked lady (above) had claimed that the Police Inspector was worth over N2 billion and lived extravagantly.
She alleged that he usually went to expensive night clubs and ensured that the premises were exclusively reserved each time he partied.
She further claimed that the officer owned a building on 27 Remi Fani-Kayode Street, GRA, Ikeja, worth N250m, and used exotic cars.
But police investigation revealed that the said Inspector resided in a low class neighbourhood and had just N15,000 and N5,000 in his two bank accounts.
In a statement issued yesterday by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Chike Oti, it is understood that the allegations have caught the attention of the Inspector-General of Police, who ordered an investigation into the claims.
He said: “Investigation into the matter was painstakingly carried out. At the end of the probe, it was clear that the allegations were not only false and misleading but a calculated attempt to malign the good name of a hardworking police officer and embarrass the police authorities.
“Edgal said the police are counting on Nigerians in getting credible information that would lead to the arrest of the masked woman. The arrest and prosecution of the woman will serve as a deterrent to others who use social media platforms to maliciously destroy the image of innocent Nigerians.”
