Obasanjo, Atiku Reunites In Abuja

An erstwhile Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, on Wednesday, June 27, met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo at an event in Abuja.

Atiku, who have not been on friendly terms in recent years with his former principal, Obasanjo, were pictured at the Gusau Institute on ‘A New Era for China-Africa Cooperation’ at an Abuja hotel.

In some photographs shared by Atiku’s Media Aide, Paul Ibe, both leaders can be seen exchanging pleasantries by shaking hands.

In the tweet, Ibe wrote: “Obasanjo, @atiku, Boni Yayi, Fmr Pres. of Benin Republic, Gen. Aliyu Gusau (Rtd), Fmr NSA, Mahamane Ousmane, Fmr Pres. of Niger Republic and others at the Gusau Institute on ‘A New Era for China-Africa Cooperation’ at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel on Wednesday.”

Obasanjo and Atiku, who were in charge of the country between 1999 and 2007, fell out shortly before the end of their time in power.

They have reconciled at different times; even during the buildup to the 2015 election.
