Nigerians Warned Against Using Drugs Imported From China — They May Contain Human Parts

Every athlete knows that education is a crucial part of performance, especially since it can help them determine the good and bad things for their body.

For many athletes however, one big question they have on their minds is whether vitamins are important or they are not.

Sport and exercise research, insight from top trainers, science, and technology helps athletes to better understand their body so you can craft a healthier lifestyle, workouts, and recovery plan. But how important are vitamins to the overall health of athletes?

The Science Behind Vitamins
Researchers analyzed data from tens of thousands of people to confirm whether calcium, vitamin C, vitamin D, and multivitamin supplements improve the heart health of athletes.

Their study found that they have no effect on heart disease, heart attack, stroke, or lifespan.

According to experts, if your heart is strong and you’re taking the supplements for other reasons, the findings definitely don’t apply to you. The study looked only at their effects on cardiovascular health.

However, if you are one of those people at high risk for heart conditions, and you regularly participate in athletic activities, there is a need for you to get vitamins and minerals from plant-based foods rather than pills.

The Simple reason is because your body absorbs them more easily that way. As a matter of fact, this used to be the conventional wisdom of every dietitian, before modern day ideas made people steer away from the advice.

What Should You Do?
Despite the fact that the study doesn’t rule out all the other benefits of taking supplements, it is important to know that supplements are beneficial.

Until more research is done, you might still consider taking vitamin D and calcium to support bone health and vitamin C to slow skin aging.

Every single benefit that comes with taking vitamins in their natural forms or as supplements are bound to accrue, whether you are taking them for your athletic activities or for your general well-being.
