Presidency Reveals When Buhari Will Sign 2018 Budget

Reports have emerged that President Muhammadu Buhari will sign the 2018 budget into law on Wednesday, June 20, 2018.

TheCable quoted a presidential source as saying that the Appropriation Bill would be signed at 11am.

Speaking in corroboration with news outlet, Daily Post reports that the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting for this Wednesday, will not hold.

It was also gathered that Principal officers of the National Assembly, including the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara have been invited to witness the signing ceremony at the Presidential Villa.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina had last week told state house correspondents that the president would give assent to the budget this week.

“The budget will be signed next week. We will give you the specific date when it is confirmed,” Adesina had said.

The National Assembly had passed the budget on May 16, after nearly seven months after the president submitted the proposals to the lawmaker.

The executive arm of government received the passed documents from the National Assembly on May 25, 2018.

Buhari had presented a budget proposal of N8.612 trillion to the lawmakers.

During the presentation, he noted that the 2018 budget will consolidate on the achievements of the previous budget and that 2018 is expected to be a year of better outcomes.
