Wakanda Forever 1&2: Nollwyood Releases Spin-Off For ‘Black Panther’

Barely a month after the release of Marvel’s “Black Panther” – a movie that has crossed the $1 billion mark at the global box office – Nigeria’s movie industry Nollywood decided to produce its own version of the game-changing movie “Wakanda Forever”.

Only Black Panther Can Stop Boko Haram

While Wakanda is a fictional African nation appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics, Wakanda Forever is the salute of the people of Wakanda.

The Nollywood version of Black Panther, which was released a few days ago, and was produced in a village in Nigeria, brings together traditional storytelling with juju/voodoo and comedic special effects to explore family and lineage in an African society.

Black Panther And The Debt We Owe Black Americans

While the superhero Black Panther is still enjoying global attention not only for its spot on acting or storyline but for representing a symbol of black power and solidarity, the Nollywood’s Wakanda Forever is already gathering thousands of views on YouTube.

Meanwhile, Nigerian-born actress Sope Aluko, who was seen in the Billion Dollar grossing phenomenon, Black Panther, has inked a deal to join the cast of Marvel’s Venom, Sony’s Spiderman spinoff starring Tom Hardy in the title role.

Aluko, who played the spiritual leader, Shaman in Black Panther, joins Michelle Williams and Riz Ahmed in the stand-alone film, which is expected to be unrelated to the Spider-Man cinematic universe.
