Nigeria Head Coach Gernot Rohr Names His 28 Players Squad For Poland And Serbia Friendlies

Torino midfielder Joel Obi has been handed a chance to get into Nigeria’s 2018 World Cup squad after head coach Gernot Rohr recalled him to the team

Joel Obi whose career has suffered from a succession of injuries, is one of 28 players called up for two friendlies against Poland and Serbia at the end of the month.

Al Ahly’s Junior Ajayi also joins the team and it will be his first time after his exploits with the Egyptian giants, while goalkeeper Francis Uzoho returns for the second successive squad gathering.

Nigeria’s CHAN (Home Based) Eagles are represented in the squad by Stephen Ezeh and Gabriel Okechukwu.

World Cup-bound Nigeria play Poland at the 43 000-seater Stadium Wroclaw on 23 March, before heading off to London for the clash with Serbia four days later.

These are the first two of six friendly encounters planned for the Super Eagles by the Nigeria Football Federation ahead of the World Cup finals in Russia this summer.
