Alan Pardew has hinted that he could be forced out of West Brom if they lose Saturday’s relegation battle against fellow Premier League strugglers Huddersfield Town.
The Baggies head into the weekend bottom of the table, seven points behind the Terriers who occupy the nearest position of safety, and Pardew has insinuated that the club’s hierarchy might send him packing if he loses the match.
“I’ve got a bag and I’ve half-packed,” The Mirror quotes Pardew as saying.
“Antonio Conte summed it up this week when he said you’ve always got a bag packed in this job – mine is half-packed. But I don’t want to leave the football club. I want to give it the best possible go I can.
“The spotlight does fall heavily on the manager, as Jose Mourinho has found out this week, and we’re probably both hoping it’s somebody else’s turn next week.”
