Ycee’s record label, Tinny Entertainment has officially put an end to the artiste’s deal with Sony Music Africa.
In a statement released by the record label, the termination of the distribution deal between Sony Music Africa and Ycee was necessitated by the fact that the deal which was meant to push the artiste globally has not been living up to the promise.
Recall, Ycee took to Twitter August 29th last year to call out the official of Sony Music Africa handling the deal, Micheal Ugwu. In his tweets, Ycee accused the international record company for exploiting him and other African artistes.
Meanwhile, Tinny Entertainment recently dropped an official statement on their website announcing the termination of the deal with Sony Music Africa which was signed in October 2016 on the grounds that the deal has not been favourable to them.
Read Statement Below;
“We would like to state officially that we terminated our contract with SONY through our lawyers, Olaniwun Ajayi LP, by a letter dated 5 December 2017.
Henceforth, we are the sole owners of the copyright in any and all of our music and can exploit our music on any and every platform.
We have realized that it is best to undertake the distribution of our records by ourselves, as a Record Label and that Made in Nigeria across board, is the only way to be above board.”
As a Label, we are pushing out great music this year starting with “Say Bye Bye,” “I Wish” and our YCEE and Bella Collabo EP, “Late Night Vibrations.”
We thank you for the love!
