The Scottish Football Association are now set to unveil Alex McLeish as their new manager of the senior side on Friday afternoon.

After missing out on top target Michael O’Neill, who instead opted to remain on as Northern Ireland boss, Scottish football chiefs turned their attention to Alex McLeish.

Despite being out of work since departing Egyptian club Zamalek in May 2016, the 59-year-old was seen as the next-best candidate to succeed Gordon Strachan

McLeish has managed Scotland once before, guiding them to the brink of a place at Euro 2008 before quitting for spells with Birmingham City, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest.
