All The Ways You Can Make Money From Your Instagram Selfies

share on:

A lot of our favourite social media apps, especially instagram are no longer for simply taking and sharing selfies with friends but can be a way to make money. Instagram has particularly offered a way for us to take beautiful pictures which we can filter and share with both people we know personally and those we haven’t met.

If you are one of those who has scrolled through Instagram, you probably would have seen social media ‘influencers’ making a fortune flogging hemp bikinis and goji berry-infused facial creams to their legions of followers. The truth however is that you don’t have to be famous on Instagram before you make money from the social media platform.

A new website called Inkifi (https://inkifi.com/) has built a calculator that helps you figure out exactly what your Instagram posts could be worth depending on your number of followers — even if you don’t have millions of Insta friends.

The folks at Inkifi believe that as much as half of marketers are set to ramp up their spending on influencer marketing campaigns over the next 12 months and a lot of them are encouraging Instagram users to learn exactly what they could make from a single post.

While inkifi will not be able to guarantee you free travel to exotic locations all over the world for you to take those beautiful selfies or build your own tanning lotion empire, it can sure point you in the direction of ‘micro-influencers’ and help you make a tidy amount by plugging products and services for brands.

The deals between companies and influencers vary from the former to the latter but Inkifi estimates that one follower is worth about $0.0075 or 300 Naira. It may not sound like much but what it actually means is that you need about 1200 or so followers to make something worthwhile from a single post.

A lot of companies have signified interest in working with micro-influencers because despite the fact that they have less reach than the bigger celebrities whose follower count sits in the millions, their smaller followings tend to be much more engaged with their content and are more likely to trust an endorsement and take that recommendation.

Inkifi estimates that Instagram users that have a follower count of between 3000 and 10,000 can expect to make around $100 or 35,000 Naira per post, while influencers that have much more followers in the region of 50,000 should be able to make a demand of $400 per post or 140,000 Naira.

Instagram has Selena Gomez as the most followed celebrity on the platform with over 130 million fans and followers. She charges anything above $500,000 for every sponsored post. The Kardashian’s an Jenner’s also charge within the same range for every sponsored post and so does football star, Cristiano Ronaldo.
