Alberto Moreno insists he did not think about leaving Liverpool after the Merseyside giants signed Andrew Robertson.
Alberto Moreno who has just earned a recall to the Spanish national team after a good start to the season, was tipped to leave Anfield earlier this year after managing only two league starts in 2016/17, with James Milner preferred at left-back.
Things looked even more bleak for Moreno’s Liverpool prospects when Robertson joined the club from Hull City, but the Spaniard insists he did not contemplate leaving Merseyside.
When asked if he thought about leaving Liverpool after the arrival of Robertson, he told Marca: “My idea was to stay, to work and to win [back] my place. I saw myself as capable. I spoke to [Jurgen] Klopp, he told me that he could not promise me anything, to work, and that they were going to a sign a No.3 (left-back).
“There I thought that something was wrong. I spoke to my people and they told me to work, to start from scratch and then we’ll see. And here we are.”
