Jose Mourinho will delay signing a contract extension at Manchester United until his wage demands are met, according to a report.
Jose Mourinho is currently less than halfway through the three-year deal signed in 2016
Mourinho cast doubt over his future beyond the end of his existing deal at the weekend when admitting that he has aspirations of managing elsewhere before retiring, with Paris Saint-Germain job understood to be of interest to him.
United chiefs will reportedly push ahead in offering the 54-year-old a new deal, though, after an impressive first 17 months at the Theatre of Dreams.
However, The Guardian claims that Jose Mourinho will only put pen to paper if his salary reflects his achievements at the club, having won two trophies in his first season and guided United into early Premier League title contention in his second.
Mourinho is understood to currently earn around £15m a year, but a marked improvement – possibly including incentives – will be required if he is to commit beyond the end of next season.
