Former Barcelona defender Adriano has backed Arda Turan to return to the first-team fold at Barca.
Arda, who joined Barcelona from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2015, has failed to establish himself at the Nou Camp and has been tipped to leave the club when the transfer window re-opens in January. He has not made a single first-team appearance under Ernesto Valverde this season.
However, his former Barca team-mate Adriano, who is now on the books at Besiktas, believes the playmaker is good enough for Valverde’s starting XI.
Speaking in the Turkish media, Adriano said: “I think that Arda has the ability to be a starting player at Barcelona. When he arrived he could not play for six months due to the sanction of the CAS.
“After that it was fairly difficult for him to have the same rhythm as the others. He also had injuries. They were difficult moments for him. But I think that Arda could overcome all of the obstacles and he will return to be the player that we know.”
