Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand believes Marcus Rashford will be rated as one of the best footballers in no time.
However, Ferdinand feels the youngster, who has scored five goals this season, still needs to match the likes of Mbappe and Dembele.
Rashford’s performance for Manchester United has earned him a Golden Boy nomination, but Ferdinand feels he can do more.
“You have got Dembele who has gone to Barcelona and Mbappe who has gone to PSG,” Ferdinand told The Mirror. “Would you say Rashford is of the same ilk as them?
“I think potentially he is as good as those guys, but they have done it in the Champions League, while he is yet to prove that.
“He has to keep proving himself, and there are so many hurdles you have to get over. These young players, we are too quick to say, ‘He can be this or that’.
“If he keeps improving, keeps working at his game and stays in love with football, he has got as good a chance as any kid in the game to be a real success and a huge star.”
“He is a great talent and he’s doing well,” “He looks like he’s maturing. He is improving, he is hungry and he is getting opportunities this season.
“He is somebody who can be a huge talent for United and England, and he’s at the right place to do that.
“He has got the backing of the manager, the backing of the fans and the confidence of the players, and the more I see him, the more he is bringing new things to his game and adding to it.”
