Atletico Madrid captain Gabi will sign a one-year contract extension this week, reports AS.
The 34-year-old’s current deal expires next summer, but Atleti want him to stay on for a further season.
As such, the midfielder will put pen to paper on a new contract imminently, with the club expected to announce the new deal this week.
Atlético offered extensions to Fernando Torres, Gabi and Juanfran at the end of last season – the first two accepted, only the full-back has yet to give the club his decision.
Last season, Gabi made 50 appearances in official competition (34 in LaLiga, 11 in the Champions League and five in the Copa del Rey
