Kylian Mbappe says he decided to move to Paris Saint-Germain because he wants to make history in his own country and play alongside Neymar.
“Great players make history in their own country. If I had left France after six months I would have left as an eternal hope,” he told Telefoot.
“When you come to Paris you are at a club that has the ambition to be the best in the world, you have come to a club that wants to play in all the competitions.”
As much as Mbappe wants to remain in France for now, any future move could rely on how well the Parisian club do in the next few years.
Unai Emery’s team surrendered the Ligue 1 title for the first time in five years and were bundled out of the Champions League at the last-16 stage when Barcelona remarkably overcame a 4-0 deficit from the first leg.
The response (to that and other concerns) in the transfer window has been emphatic.
