Italy

Juventus are still interested in Monaco midfielder Fabinho, with the Italian club offering €40m (£35.5m) for the midfielder over the summer. The Ligue 1 club wanted €60m (£53m), but Juve are expected to return in January for the player. PSG, however, are also expected to up their offer (LeSport 10).

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis believes there are too many teams in Serie A, making the point that Italy’s top flight would be more competitive if they cut the division to just 16 clubs (Gazzetta dello Sport).

Spain

Diego Costa has bid farewell to the friends he has spent the summer with in Brazil and is on his way to join up with Atletico Madrid after securing a €60m (£53m) return to the club on Thursday (AS).

Ousmane Dembele’s hopes of recovering from injury in time for the Clasico against Real Madrid in December have taken a hit after it was revealed that the new Barcelona signing will miss at least three months of action, rather than the two months the player himself had claimed. Dembele underwent surgery in Finland on Tuesday (Marca).

Real Madrid’s shirt sponsorship deal with Emirates is set to be renewed one year early, with the airline willing to pay €70m (£61.9m) a season up until 2022. Next on the agenda is the capital club’s deal with kit manufacturer Adidas. Real want a deal as big as Barcelona’s one with Nike, which earns them €105m (£92.8m) (Marca).

Germany

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has committed his future to Borussia Dortmund, admitting that Real Madrid are no longer interested in signing him. The Gabon striker had long been linked with a move to the Spanish capital and expressed his disappointment at having to stay in Germany this summer (RMC).

Hamburg are expected to tie down Nicolai Muller to a new two-year contract. The exact details of the deal are yet to be agreed between the club and the 29-year-old, but the player has stated that talks are at an advanced stage (Sky Germany).

France

Neymar has apologised to his Paris Saint-Germain team-mates for a bust-up with Edinson Cavani over who should take a free-kick in a game against Lyon at the weekend. It had been reported yesterday that the Brazilian had asked the Parisian club to sell Cavani over the disagreement, but there now appears to have been a truce (L’Equipe).

PSG sporting director Antero Henrique has cancelled all press conferences and media appearances ahead of next week’s Champions League clash against Bayern Munich, claiming that the players need to concentrate on matters on the field. It’s convenient that this cancellation comes after a storm around the bust-up between Neymar and Cavani (Le Parisien).

Portugal

Ljubomir Fejsa is expected to return to his place in midfield for Benfica as they face Pacos Ferreira on Saturday. The Serbian has been injured for a number of weeks, but will feature this weekend (A Bola).

Nikola Maras is attracting the attention of Benfica, despite only joining Chaves in the summer. The Serbian has only played two games for his new club, but the Lisbon giants are monitoring the 21-year-old’s progress (O Jogo).
