September came to an interesting end as the final ‘Ask Series’ edition for the month had the newly elevated Editor of Genevieve Magazine a Nigerian lifestyle magazine. The weekly conversational series convened by Belfry Africa is hosted at The Waterside Ikoyi Lagos. Themed “Rising to the top”, the writer cum actor took the attendees through her multiple career journey which started when she was 13 years old and how she has been able to get to the height of becoming the Editor of Genevieve Magazine.
During the very enlightening conversation, Sonia said,” I have been behind the scenes of whatever work has been done in Genevieve Magazine. I started working with the magazine right from age 13 as my mum saw the creativity in me at a tender age. “I would say that I have gotten enough experience both locally and internationally to finally take up the role of the Editor of Genevieve Magazine,” she added.
Talking about her acting career, she said she did a lot of stage plays back in the UK and would love to still do more work there. Responding to why Genevieve Magazine has been relevant in the past 14 years, the Editor said,” Genevieve Magazine is relevant because we are responding to what the audience wants.” Advising upcomers, Sonia said, “No matter how small the idea is, just start, build on it, call on people for advice and keep moving.”
Bidemi Zakariyau played an amazing host carrying every single attendee along with the conversations. Other Personalities who were in attendance were Denola Grey, Ozzy Agu, Bayo Lawal of Orange culture amongst others.
As usual, the attendees enjoyed the opportunity to ask questions, network and enjoy the unique ambience of The Waterside Ikoyi.
