The Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Alhassan, is present at the meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), which is presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari and ongoing at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Mrs Alhassan, it was learnt, arrived the premises of Wednesday’s FEC meeting at 10:45am to a warm reception from her cabinet colleagues as President Buhari commenced proceeding at 11am.
It was gathered that her presence attracted the attention of the photo journalists in the chamber and her colleagues before the FEC meeting commenced, contrary to expectations that she would be given a cold shoulder.
The minister had, in an interview with the Hausa Service of the BBC last week, said she preferred former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, not Buhari for the 2019 presidential election.
In a separate interview, she had said she would support Mr. Abubakar even if President Buhari chooses to contest.
It is also understood that Alhassan had on September 7, allegedly submitted her resignation letter to the office of the Chief of Staff to the President following her remarks about the presidential ambition of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.
