French President Emmanuel Macron is getting in on the Neymar discussion now, following an appearance at a charity event in Paris earlier today.
Meeting with PSG President Nasser al-Khelaifi on the sidelines of of a children’s holiday camp, Macron told him: “Congratulations, I understand there’s been some good news.”
Al-Khelaifi responded only with a big smile.
And he later told journalists as he visited a holiday centre for children outside Paris: “It adds attractiveness. Yes, it’s good news.”
France’s budget minister also has reason to celebrate. Gerald Darmanin said Thursday on France-Inter radio “It’s better that this football player pays his taxes in France than elsewhere.”
Neymar’s 222 million euros ($263 million) transfer from Barcelona to Paris St Germain is set to be completed this week.
