Tottenham are now in pole position to sign Fernando Llorente after a deal with agreed with Swansea this morning.
Chelsea have been the favourites to sign the Spanish striker. However, we understand Spurs began negotiations for the player yesterday afternoon and a deal was agreed this morning.
Tottenham are also understood to have submitted a bigger offer than Chelsea’s £15m but the Premier League champions may return with a fresh bid and would be able to offer Llorente the higher wages.
The move is still up in the air at this stage and the player will make the final decision. He will hold talks with his brother, who is also his agent, this morning.
Llorente still has a strong relationship with Antonio Conte after the pair worked together at Juventus, and shared a warm embrace with his former manager last season when Llorente inspired Swansea to an unlikely victory at Stamford Bridge.
