City are expected to pay an initial £26.5 million fee for the Brazilian with a further £4.4 million payable in add ons
Guardiola switched his sights to Danilo after the player’s compatriot, Daniel Alves, snubbed City in order to join Paris St-Germain last week. Danilo hopes to join City’s pre-season tour of the US and undergo a medical in the coming days. It has been reported the 26-year-old will sign a five-year contract.
Danilo would become City’s fourth summer signing after Bernardo Silva, Ederson Moraes and Walker
“We have many options of people coming in but until a deal is done I can’t say anything out of respect to other clubs but he [Danilo] is one option we have,” the City manager said at a press conference on Wednesday ahead of a derby match against Manchester United in Houston in the early hours on Friday.
“He’s a player from Real Madrid. So we are talking with three or four players to try to join us, not [just for] next season but for the next five years.”
