The first season of Riverdale has come and gone and it left viewers and lovers of the show yearning for more from Archie, Betty, Jughead and the other characters. The announcement of the season two of the show seemed like a very big risk, especially since taking characters from the goofy archive comics placing them into a dark, surreal murder mystery for teenagers that can be captivating enough to hold the attention of viewers is meaner than expected.
Fortunately for all, it seemed to have worked out for everyone with Ross Butler who plays the role of Reggie, announcing far back in March that a second season was on the way. As more and more information are being released, we’ve decided to put them all together for you to have a quick access to everything you need to know about season 2 of Riverdale.
When Will It Be Airing?
While the air date of season two is yet to be announced, shooting for the series begun in April and new episodes are expected to go on air in mid 2018. The creator of the show, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa revealed that the first episode of season two will start almost immediately after the chaotically violent events of season one’s finale, giving an explosive season premiere.
Who And Who Will Be In Riverdale season 2?
The acknowledgement by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa of the fact that Sabrina The Teenage Witch will no longer just exist in the Archie Comics universe but may actually come to our screens in season two of Riverdale. What appears to be the most important casting news involves the character of Reggie. With actor, Ross Butler leaving the show because of scheduling conflicts between Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why and Riverdale, Reggie will be played by Charles Melton who has previously appeared in Glee and American Horror Story in season two of riverdale.
The characters of the big bad in season two is closely guarded, just as Veronica’s father Hiram is expected to join the cast of characters. In the comics, Veronica’s father hates Archie and if this is brought to the show, Hiram would cause a lot of problems for our hero.
The Relationship Between Archie and Veronica
Riverdale operates on a combination of mystery and interesting relationships between the characters. Season two is expected to test the relationships between the characters, with all the dark events of the season one finale coming together and continually having an impact on Archie and Veronica.
Season two is expected to see Archie go through a number of traumatic experiences and hopefully, Veronica will be there to help carry his burden, even as Veronica’s father, Hiram, is expected to throw some spanners in the works with his arrival. As always, Archie is expected to rise to the occasion and defeat the forces of evil.
Betty and Jughead
Betty and Jughead are also expected to face their own troubles in season two. The season one finale saw Jughead setting off for a different path, with him going to be different school and living in a different part of the town. The most important thing here is that there’s a possibility of him joining the Southside Serpents, which will obviously create tension between him and Betty, if he gets to tell her.
Another likely possibility is Jughead trying to live a double life, shuttling between Betty and one of the Southside Serpents, which will bring the kind of drama viewers expect.
