Iker Casillas has extended his stay at Porto for one more year.
The former Real Madrid stopper’s deal ran out last month but he’s decided to stay on for another season.
The 2010 World Cup winner was a man in demand and was reportedly subject to interest from Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, PSG, Sevilla and MLS clubs.
Casillas nonetheless returned to preseason training with Porto last week, amid speculation the now 36-year-old was taking a pay-cut to remain at the Estadio do Dragao, and confirmation that a deal had been done came via Twitter.
“Very happy to be continuing another season at FC Porto,” Casillas said. “Very excited about the challenges to come.”
