The first episode of season 7 of #GameOfThrones has come and gone but it left a couple of questions that viewers will have to wait for answers to. One of the most important questions are the actual contents of Cersei’s full note to Jon Snow from the season 7 premiere.
The newly installed Queen of the seven kingdoms (or is it three kingdoms now according to Jamie lannister?) all but made it known that she has got enemies everywhere but she now has little or nothing to lose.
She said this while conversing with her twin brother, Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Costa waudau) when she said “Enemies to the North. Enemies to the South. Enemies to the East and West.”
With Queen Cersei (Lena Headey) having virtually lost everything with the death of all three of her children, the childless Lannister matriarch has become perversely empowered on #GameOfThrones. While it seemed that the only thing that had previously kept her human (her children), had all but gone, she is only left with hate and a thirst for power.
It appears that her first move the moment she was declared Queen was to try and explore an alliance with some of the few options available to her in the person of Euron Greyjoy – the lusty old sea dog from the Iron Islands, who murdered and schemes on his way to becoming the ruler of the Iron Islands.
It however appears that she’s keeping him at arm’s length as he strives to fulfil his pledge of a gift to her which can be anything from a bunch of flowers or lovely new kitchen set, or the head of her traitorous brother, Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage).
Her second order of business was to send a note to Jon Snow (Kit Harington), who was only recently declared King in the North. Everyone’s favourite boy accepted the note sent through a raven with a furrowed brow during one of his exchanges with Sansa.
While some form of courtesy is expected from Queen Cersei, she minced no words as she made her intentions known to the new king. And because the showrunners of #GameOfThrones, HBO know that viewers are geeky enough to care about everything that happens on the show, they released a picture that shows the entirety of Cersei’s message to Jon.
The contents of the note is less than appealing and it only confirms what a lot of us already suspected. Cersei won’t be down even with the odds stacked against her. And if her antecedents are anything to go by, she may just prove more than a match for Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) as she hopes to reclaim the Throne.
