Demarai Gray has held talks with Leicester this afternoon over a possible transfer away from the club.
We understand there are a number of clubs interested in Gray, including Everton, Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund.
The 21-year-old winger scored twice for England at this summer’s European U21 Championship.
As far as Leicester are concerned, Gray is under a long-term contract and is not for sale.
The Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare spoke to Sky Sports earlier in July about his desire to keep him at the King Power:
“He’s definitely still wanted. He’s a player with great potential.” Shakespeare said.
“I’ve had numerous conversations over the last four months with Demarai about being patient. I understand that sometimes that can just be words and they need to playing but he has a big future to be played here.
“He’s one, with our staff, he’s very well thought of but we understand the frustrations. It’s up to us to make sure they are given the opportunities and to make sure they are aware of how highly valued they are.”
Gray made 30 appearances in the Premier League for Leicester last season, but only nine of them came as starts.
What does seem strange in all this, is that, if Gray is clamouring for more game-time, he is much less likely to get it at Everton, Tottenham and, especially, Dortmund.
