Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio has claimed that Chelsea are ahead of Manchester United in the race to sign Fluminense forward Richarlison in this summer’s transfer window.
The 20-year-old has scored 15 times in 60 first-team appearances for his Brazilian club since joining from America Mineiro in 2016.
Man United and AC Milan have previously been credited with an interest in the Brazilian, but according to Di Marzio, Premier League champions Chelsea are the favourites to conclude a deal ahead of the new European season.
Richarlison, who has scored three times in 10 appearances for Brazil’s Under-20 outfit, is said to be valued in the region of £12m.
The pacey Brazil Under-20s star likes to play out wide and is a nightmare for defenders with his awkward style and low centre of gravity.
He also has an eye for goal and has managed ten strikes in 21 league matches so far this season.
Chelsea have invested heavily in a Brazilian scouting network to keep tabs on the South American powerhouse’s top young talents
