Gary Cahill says he is prepared to fill the void left by John Terry, but concedes his loss will be felt by the club.
Terry left the club at the end of his contract and will now be captain of Aston Villa, after spending most of his career at Chelsea.
Even though a captain is yet to be picked, Cahill is a frontrunner for the role at Stamford Bridge.
“Obviously John Terry will be huge loss for us but I feel I’m at an age where I can pass on my experience to the younger players,” Cahill told reporters ahead of Chelsea’s friendly against Arsenal in Beijing on Saturday.
“We have a lot of experienced players in the dressing room anyway, but I certainly feel I can help.”
