Soyebi was also quoted to have said that the decision is in line with a court ruling.

In a flurry of tweets, the apex electoral body, on its verified Twitter account, also said it held its regular weekly meeting today and considered the order given by the Federal High Court, Abuja dated 6th July 2017.

It would be recalled, last week, the Federal High Court, Abuja had ordered the electoral body and the Senator to maintain “status quo” pending the determination of a suit filed by Melaye to challenge the process.

Meanwhile, Soyebi said INEC would appeal the ruling.
