The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has fulfilled the conditions for his release as granted to him by a Federal High Court in Abuja.

TheCable reports that the brother to the IPOB leader, Prince Kanu, confirmed on Friday that the conditions for his release had been met.

“Yes, we have fulfilled the bail conditions,” he said, adding that “In fact, we are on our way to the prison now.”

Speaking also in confirmation, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Kanu’s lawyer, said that his client had perfected his bail conditions.

“Yes, he (kanu)  has fulfilled his bail conditions,” he said.

The Herald added that the bail condition was perfected at the presence of the Chairman, South East Senate caucus and former Deputy Governor of Abia State, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, a Jewish High Chief Priest, Immanuu-El Shalom and a Chartered Accountant residing in Abuja, Tochukwu Uchendu.

On Tuesday, Binta Nyako, justice of the federal high court, Abuja, granted Kanu bail on health grounds.

“The first defendant, Nnamdi Kanu, has appealed to the court for bail based on health grounds and it is only the living that can stand trial.

“So I am minded to grant him bail so that he can attend to his health and face his trial alive,” Nyako said.

However, the trial judge, gave some stringent conditions which the IPOB leader must meet before perfecting his bail.

The judge said the IPOB leader must meet the following terms below:

“Produce three sureties and two of whom must be; (a) highly respected and recognized Jewish leader and (b) highly placed Igbo person such as a Senator. The third surety must be resident in Abuja with a landed property in the same Abuja. Above all, the three sureties must deposit one hundred million naira (N100million) each.

“Barred from attending any rally and granting any form of interview.

“Must not be in a crowd exceeding 10 persons.

“Must surrender his British and Nigerian passports even when these passports are still in the custody of the DSS.

“Must sign an undertaking to avail himself for trial at all times.”
