Veteran striker Claudio Pizarro is preparing to enter talks over a possible contract extension with Werder Bremen, according to German newspaper Bild.
The 38-year-old striker has enjoyed four separate spells with the Bundesliga club, although his current deal is set to expire on June 30.
Former Werder Bremen club president Willie Lemke has urged Pizarro to leave the club on a high note this summer.
He said: “The perfect time would be in the summer. It would be the glorious parting of a great time.
“Claudio is one of the great players in this club’s history. He is a superstar like Johan Micoud, Rune Bratseth or Rudi Völler ”
Pizarro, has scored 190 Bundesliga goals for both Bremen and Bayern Munich — more than any other foreigner in the league’s history.
