Chelsea are reportedly preparing a summer swoop for Sporting Gijon defender Jorge Mere, according to the Daily Express.
Antonio Conte is eyeing the 19-year-old as he prepares for life after John Terry, with Valencia also thought to be in the race for his signature.
Jorge Mere has a £25 million release clause in his current contract but it’s claimed that the La Liga club could be open to a cheaper deal if they are relegated this season.
Sporting are currently in the relegation zone and five points adrift of safety with seven games to go.
Mere made his La Liga debut in September 2015 while he was part of Spain’s Under-19 squad which won the European Championship earlier that year.
Mere was named in Spain’s senior squad for a friendly against Bosnia-Herzegovina last May but did not make an appearance.
