During Atletico Madrid’s 1-1 draw against Deportivo, Fernando Torres sustained a terrible head injury , but he is conscious and stable now.
The striker was knocked out cold in the air during an aerial collision with a Deportivo defender.
Torres went limp in the air and landed with considerable force on the turf, with his head
taking the brunt of the impact.
“Fernando has suffered a head injury,” an Atletico statement initially read. “He was rushed to the hospital to undergo tests. He will spend the night in hospital under observation.”
The club also tweeted that Torres had undergone a CT scan and that there was seemingly no major lasting damage sustained. The message in Spanish read: “Torres has had a cranial and cervical CT [computed tomography scan].
“No traumatic alterations or injuries [were discovered].”
